2 Years Volunteering
CoachBright - a social mobility charity on a mission to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to become confident, independent and resilient. Through CoachBright I taught 12 GCSE students, providing weekly 1:1 sessions.
9 months Volunteering - Peer Assisted Learning (PAL)
• During my final year at the university, I hosted PAL sessions with up to 15 first / second year students - to help teach content from modules I achieved highly in.
-
Sessions are relaxed and fun - I’m young, friendly and very experienced in 1:1 tuition.
All students have different backgrounds, and different needs. My empathetic nature and adaptability ensure students always feel at ease and confident in sessions.
I prioritise getting to know each student first, ask about their interests and tell them a little about mine. I often relate questions back to topics of particular interest to each student, to help with memorisation and engagement.
In sessions I use a vast range of techniques to teach topics, tailored to each students learning style (visual diagrams, real world examples, interactive whiteboards).

“Oscar has been amazing with supporting our daughter on her maths journey since year 9.
My daughter struggles to keep focus and interest with maths, but Oscar maintains her engagement brilliantly, and always shows patience and helps guide her back to the task when she becomes distracted.
We are extremely happy with his approach and look forward to the strides our daughter will make.

“Oscar has been tutoring my son for the last two months and it’s made a huge impact.
He has the statistics GCSE to sit in June and has been finding it difficult to keep up in school, but having the 1:1 support is making all the difference.
Oscar takes him through the tasks and helps him keep focused in a way that's really helping him to build confidence.
The material is really challenging but Oscar's knowledge is superb and he is very calm, friendly and approachable.”

“My daughter and I are delighted to have found Oscar to support her through A-level maths.
He is friendly, approachable, and teaches in an engaging way. My daughter leaves sessions every week understanding the questions she couldn’t in school.
He is super knowledgeable and has great communication. Oscar messages each week to find out what my daughter would like to work on so he can prepare, and he helps her to consolidate what she’s covered in school so she feels confident with the material.
He is exactly what you look for in a tutor.”
Ellie - A Level Parent

He has helped me feel confident going into my A level maths resit.”

”We were looking for assistance for our Son as he approached his A Levels. Oscar provided seamless, patient online support during the weeks prior to (and during) the exams. Our son succeeded in achieving his required grade and we are in no doubt that a significant contribution to this was the help and exam technique advice that Oscar provided. We highly recommend him to anyone in a similar position.”
